"....A fine Spring day for our first league game of the season against Old Woking. Indeed a fine pitch to play on, real grass, a change from our usual grubby carpet.
Alas, the admiration of the pitch threw our concentration in the first overs of this fixture. Straight, accurately bowled balls were watched onto stumps rather than bat and kamikaze runs were taken to the dismay of the home crowd! Shouts of YES..NO... OH SHIT were regular features of the opening to our innings to the detriment of our total score.
Some middle order bludgeoning by Jeremy and your captain and a steady final stand by Mahendra and Dave gave a respect to our innings but 132 for 10 wickets was well below par. Old Woking, keen to avenge the thrashing we gave them in last year's final ( had to get this in this report somewhere!) opened their innings with a fair degree of determination. To be fair to them, they hit the bad balls and ran(walked) sensibly when ball was to hand, rather than our more cavalier approach. Their opening pair put on a good start but despite some good bowling from Richard, Mahendra and Dave they comfortably overcame our score, hitting 173 for 3.

Thanks to David for scoring and for those that came along to support.

Special shout out to John Legg for the catering. Thank you
