Great weather to set us up for the opening T20 cup comp this season for Epsom 1's. Epsom bowled first with Merstham getting off to a reasonable start hitting a few boundaries. To combat skipper Moore made use of his extensive bowling line up to keep the batsmen on their toes and with people bowling to the field Epsom managed to drag the rate back. Wickets were shared across the board with notable performances from Phil Edwards and Raj taking 2 each and with others chipping in. Merstham finished up with 113 which Epsom were fairly confident they could chase.
After a quick start from Edwards and Rivers, both fell in quick succession. In came skipper Moore and Bird who was unlucky to be run out at the non strikers end for 0, off a ball that was firmly driven up the pitch and touched on the way through to the stumps leaving Jake stranded backing up. In came Berry who immediately started to punish some wayward bowling getting off the mark with a straight six. These two worked the gaps well, Berry getting more of the strike but also getting into his stride quicker with a number of hard hit boundaries. The score pushed on rapidly with the likely hood that these two would finish the match. On 104 however Moore was bowled by a good yorker bringing Anderson to the crease. Berry pushed on in the next over though to hit a crisp 4 then a 6 to finish the match in the 13th over finishing on 66 Not Out.
